Fleurieu Arthouse
This wonderful place is my second home. Run by the dynamic and creative husband and wife team of Anna Small and Warren Pickering it houses 8 artist studios, a gallery and beautiful retail space. I have been there since it’s inception around 3 years ago and have watched it evolve over time and seen a gentle flow of different artists inhabit their spaces. Many people think the studio spaces are old horse stables but the reality is that this very large warehouse was part of the Hardy Winery site and when the Arthouse took over the space, Warren was gifted a huge number of wooden pallets to divide up the space. From these we now have the studio area where all the magic happens. The gallery has regular exhibitions and different workshops and classes are also held here. The retail space showcases the work of about 70 professional artists from the surrounding area and also from Adelaide. I love the energy of this place. I know I can walk in and get straight down to ‘business’ in my studio or there is always someone around for a chat. We were pretty excited to get our coffee machine and so now have a great little gathering spot to talk art. (Coffee and cake for sale to the public as well)
