Primo Estate
Italians have a reputation for knowing about good food and wine, it’s in their DNA but I’ll add good design to that. Joseph Grilli is the man behind this family brand and he has built a fabulous and very modern cellardoor. The architecture is very minimalist and stylish, shadows forming strong patterns through the olive tree landscaped garden. Now this entry statement piece is important as an excellent olive oil is also made by Primo Estate. Joseph’s family is from the Veneto region in Italy and he occasionally shares some of his favourite recipes from this region. You may meet one of his sons in the cellar door as you settle in for a flight that will include his olive oil and some great local sourdough bread. The tasting room is pretty fabulous with the translucent red stools, the very same ones I just had to paint for the calendar.
